Picture this, I arrive at Stockholm all tired from day's work and with a severe headache. With a little help I am able to figure a way to reach this hotel (by walk of course). I reach the hotel, and somehow everything about this Hotel was so pleasant that I felt completely refreshed. The Hotel reception staff was very welcoming and the check-in was smooth. Enter my room, and I am super amazed with the entire set-up. They also provide binoculars for guests to enjoy the view from the room, how thoughtful. There are many restaurants and food joints outside, in case you want other options besides the hotel restaurant. The room and the bath were big enough. The complementary breakfast, available early morning, included so many dishes, including a live counter. I am so glad I chose this hotel. Of the many Airport hotels I have stayed, I'd vote this one the best so far!

I can’t believe I’m giving 5-stars to an airport hotel! Pros and cons detailed.

I stayed at the Clarion Arlanda Airport Hotel for one night and I was shocked at how good the hotel was. I rarely give 5-stars to supposedly “5-star hotels”, but the staff really made the stay exceptional. The pros and cons, in my opinion, are: PROS: 1. STAFF: Staff can make a 4-star hotel a 5-star experience and that is the reason for my rating here. All of the staff (front desk, restaurant, housekeeping, etc.) were incredibly friendly without being ingratiating or phony, and they were always professional and efficient. The wait staff in the restaurant (see below) were an absolute pleasure, but the front desk staff, in particular, were outstanding. My check-in process went smoothly, but when I got to my room I discovered that I had not packed an adapter for the Swedish electric plugs (I had American, British, and Italian, but not Swedish!). So, I trudged back down to the front desk, and when I asked the same woman that checked me in if they had an adapter that I could use for my computer, they were out. There is a USB port on the side of the room phone which I could use for my mobile phone, but I didn’t have the proper cord to use it for my computer. While I was standing there with a look of consternation on my face trying to figure out my options, the woman behind the desk asked if I had a Dell or a Mac. I replied I had a Mac. She then rummaged around behind the counter and pulled out an entire cord system for my Macbook Air and handed it to me! I really wasn’t expecting that! She really saved me - all with friendly professionalism and a smile. She could have just said they didn't have any adapters and let it go at that, but she took the time to determine what I actually needed, and found a solution. Absolutely fantastic! 2. LOCATION: Right next to the airport, so you can walk to or from your flight. The location couldn’t be any better for anyone wanting or needing to stay close to Arlanda airport. The Arlanda Express train into the city center is also about a 10 minute walk away and the train departure times are listed on a screen in the lobby of the hotel. 3. COST: Clearly, the cost for this hotel varies with demand, but I booked online through TripAdvisor and only paid a total of 1048 SEK ($123, £93, €110) for my standard room, which I thought was extremely reasonable. 4. BREAKFAST: The breakfast, which is included in the price of the room, is very good. No matter what you want, it has it - fresh breads, yogurt and cereal, fruit, cold cuts and cheeses, hot breakfast items (eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, baked beans, potatoes, etc.) and plenty of coffee, tea, and juices. The breakfast space is also HUGE, so there’s really minimal worry about not getting a seat even on the busiest morning. 5. RESTAURANT: To reiterate, the wait staff at the Kitchen & Table restaurant, which is on the 12th floor with a great view of the planes coming and going from the airport, were absolutely fantastic. I had a light dinner of the charcuterie board and a bowl of the lobster soup. The charcuterie was good, but the soup was delicious! All washed down with a cold beer; the food and the great service were exactly what I needed after a long day. Perhaps it was because I was there on a Friday night, but I would note that it does seem to get VERY busy after about 8:00 - 8:30 p.m., so I would suggest a reservation if you want a table. 6. ROOM: I had the most basic standard double room available and it was perfect for me. It had an extremely comfortable bed, a huge TV mounted on the wall, a desk, and a chair. There was also an iron/ironing board, a safe, and a minibar in the closet. The bathroom was good sized, and had a large walk-in shower with a big rain-shower-head. The bathroom was also stocked with plenty of towels and standard bath products (e.g., shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.). 7. TRIPLE-PANED WINDOWS: You would never know you were at a hotel right next to an airport. The triple-paned windows ensured that I never once heard any airport noise. 8. COFFEE/TEA MAKING IN ROOM: This is one of my pet peeves, but I hate it when hotels don’t have even the most rudimentary coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Luckily, apart from a minor disappointment (see below), the Clarion has coffee (instant) and tea making facilities in the room. 9. FREE WIFI: I always say that in this day of interconnectivity, any hotel that charges for WiFi should be shunned, and any hotel that charges for WiFi per device should be driven out of business. Not so with the Clarion, which offers free and surprisingly fast and reliable WiFi. 10. BINOCULARS: Kind of funny, but the rooms come with a small pair of binoculars, so you can watch the planes coming and going. And, since the hotel doesn’t face any other buildings besides the airport, I suppose the voyeuristic application is minimal! Ha! CONS (all incredibly minor - I had to write something!): 1. RESTAURANT COST: Some people on TripAdvisor mentioned that they thought Kitchen & Table was expensive. I have to say, for me, SEK 385 ($45, £34, € 40) for an appetizer, soup, beer, and gratuity was perhaps a bit expensive, but I thought the quality of the food and service more than justified the meal. I can, however, see that some people might find it somewhat expensive. 2. ONLY ONE COFFEE PACKET: So, I love that they had coffee/tea making facilities in the room, but there was only one instant coffee packet available! I need at least two in the morning! Ha! With that said, I just went down to breakfast, which is served from 5:30 a.m., and got my second cup. OK, and a third - they have disposable cups available so you can bring a cup back to your room and I brought back a cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso - don’t judge me! 3. SCRAMBLED EGGS FROM POWDER: For efficiency, I just had the scrambled eggs for breakfast and the taste and consistency really convinced me they are made from powder. With that said, they do have a guy who will make you any type of fresh eggs you could possibly want, so there really isn’t any need to get the already prepared scrambled eggs. I was just lazy - again, don’t judge me! Potentially a pro, con, or unimportant depending on your needs: 1. ROOM SIZE: As I said, I stayed in a basic standard double room, but some people on TripAdvisor have complained that it was too small. Did I think so? Not at all for me, but perhaps for some people. It was a bit cozy, but I never felt stifled or claustrophobic in any way. Quite the opposite. But, I will concede that some people may want a bit more space, particularly if you have a lot of luggage. I only had a small carry on bag. All in all, I thought that the Clarion Arlanda Airport Hotel was a refreshing and surprisingly great hotel, and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting or needing to stay at Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport.

Located in Sky city you are at check-in in at airport just 2 minutes after check-out. Very good breakfast although quite a distance to walk in the morning. Rooms are god size. this is a better option than the Radisson blu located just the next door. The restaurant on top of the hotel is a good way to end the evening. Take a drink and enjoy late night landings at the airport.
