Clarion Collection® Hotel Smedjan

What I really liked about the Princess was its central location. Unfortunately, the city center of Sandviken is not really attractive. Even if you drive to the lake you won't find any hiking/walking trails along the water. The hotel itself is clean and the internet works well. The rooms are also perfectly adequate. There is a sports bar attached to the hotel that serves really good food. There are many televisions and you can choose what to show. This sports bar also offers many gaming options such as darts, table tennis, air hockey, shuffelboard, etc. There is a small indoor swimming pool and a sauna. Price-performance is ok. gut gefallen hat mir am Princess die zentrale Lage. Leider ist die Innenstadt von Sandviken nicht wirklich attraktiv. Auch wenn man an den See fährt findet man keine Wander-/Spazierwege entlang dem Wasser. Das Hotel selber ist sauber und das Internet funktioniert gut. Auch die Zimmer sind vollkommend ausreichend. An das Hotel ist eine Sportsbar angeschlossen, die echt gutes Essen serviert. Es gibt viele Fernsehgeräte und man kann sich aussuchen, was gezeigt werden soll. Auch bietet diese Sportsbar viele Spielmöglichkeiten wie Darts, Tischtennis, Airhockey, shuffelboard, etc. Es gibt ein kleines Indoorschwimmbad und eine Sauna. Preis-Leistung ist ok.

I stayed for 4 nights for a business trip in March. Location is good, central to Sandvik with a few places to eat nearby, with a sports bar next door. Check in was quick and easy, with really pleasant staff. The room was on the third floor, and was accessible by stairs or lift. The room was small, but ok for my purposes. A desk to work on, and a double bed that gave a comfortable sleep. Despite being central to Sandvik, the room was nice and quiet. Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room and also in reception which is a nice touch, as is a small fridge. Plenty of hanging space for clothes. Bathroom was small, clean but functional with a great shower. The only downside was there was only 4/5 channels available on the TV, not a big problem as most people can stream from their phone/PC/tablet. I will always come back to thus hotel when on business in the area,

The hotel was ok, we had a good night sleep, the breakfast was good, even though the room gets a bit crowded, the sauna and pool were perfect for us after a ski day... but: I took a shower at my room's bathroom and the water wouldn't drain through the sewage system. I felt it was not worth the cost. Also, I would expect more information at the arrival of the facilities the hotel offers. We asked about the pool because we had read about it, otherwise we wouldn't have known about it.

Nowadays nearly every hotel - at least big hotels in cities, are part of a chain. Stadshotellet Princess is an exception. Which gives it a bit of a more personal atmosphere, without sacrificing any comfort. Princess is not fancy in any way. Just ... good, with all of what you need for a night or two. Nice lobby area. Kind and helpful staff. Easy check in/out. Rooms simple, but with all you need and really comfortable beds! We slept excellent! No AC though, so it could get hot on a warm summer day. There is a gym and relax area with a small (but cool) pool and a sauna. Breakfast is basic, but good, and is served in a terrass area (glassed) on the lobby floor. No separate parking, but parking on the street is easy (and practically nearly free) in Sandviken. Lots of parking spaces around the hotel and also parking houses (more expensive). Prices are a couple of hundred Swedish crowns above what you would expect for a small town hotel. We felt it was worth it although. Recommended!

I stayed here for three nights on my arrival in Sandviken to start a new job. Found the receptionist friendly and happily gave me directions and where to shop etc. The room was sizeable, warm and the bathroom with shower was very good. There is also a fridge in the room. Breakfast was plentiful and self service with a good range to choose from. There is a small pool, sauna and a well equipped gym to use freely. Sandviken is an industrial town and with Covid very much with us during my stay I was limited to where and what I could visit. The Church restaurant is close by and well worth a visit. The Lillipuben and Mulligans Pubs are also worth a visit with really friendly owners 👍🏻🇸🇪
