The hotel is ok. Nothing amazing to write home about. The hotel and room were clean. Rooms are on the small side. Beds were small but comfy enough. Breakfast was decent. The location is quite good and within walking distance to all the spots in Göteborg. Staff was efficient and not too overly friendly. All in all, you get what you pay for here: a decent place to pass the night with no frills.

The construction around this hotel was really deplorable. We ended up feeling like first we couldn’t get out of the area and then couldn’t get back. This cut our visit to this big city short which was a shame. Had really hoped to see the city museum. Our son really liked what he called his “suite”. Our room with bath connected to an upper level room with bath and both had their own television. It was modern and clean.

The spot is great-directly at stenpiren, all the trams and ferries are only 100m away. That’s the best thing what I could say for this hotel. The breakfast is low level, only a very bad coffee, no espresso or cappuccino. Watery scrambled eggs, some wrinkled sausages-the best advice I could give you is to skip that breakfast and go next door to Mr.Cake-great sandwiches, pastry and coffee specialities. The cleanness in the hotel is…well, as the lady at the counter told me during the check in, that the rooms will not be cleaned every day, I thought, ok, each second day is fine. At the end, during a one week stay the room was only ONCE cleaned. That was bad. I had already a strange feeling when I saw those huge trash bins in the lobby of the hotel-well, you have to bring your trash down there if you don’t want a stinking mess in your room. I believe they are running the “hotel” with very low number of personnel, so they can’t do so much. I paid the same price in this hotel like in a nearby five-star-hotel (Radisson Blu Riverside), and next time I will definitely book the Radisson. The Comfort Hotel may be a good spot for teenager who want to spend a weekend in Gothenburg, drinking and partying, but for everyone else…nope. The personnel was at least very friendly.

We really wanted to like this place. The location seemed nice online - but in person you are surrounded by construction - this is 2021 but from what I can find the construction is going to be here for a while. It’s almost like the whole city is under construction. It makes navigating around the hotel, on foot, via bike/scooter, or in a car - very challenging. There is a ton of public transport here though. Which brings me to the next bad point. Noise. If you’re on the 6th floor with the balconies - don’t expect to leave your doors open unless you like noise. The busses and trains and other traffic are fairly quiet as far as transit goes - but they do make noise, as well as the traffic signals. And they run all the time. In addition - anything on the 6th floor and you get thumping bass music *all night* from the nightclub above you (especially on weekends). Damn near impossible to sleep. Another thing which bugged us (may not bug you) is a lot of people smoking on their patios around us made ours smell bad fairly often. The bathroom is a very neat concept - but executed poorly. The shower would flood water into the main part of the bathroom - like there is not enough slope or drain in the shower and no lip to keep water in there - so it just runs out under the door into the main bathroom area. The restaurants and bars in the hotel are nice. Breakfast was decent - nothing to be amazed by - but it will get you going for the day (although it was really crowded and often very hard to find a socially distanced seat - but this may not apply too long into the future I hope - this review is 2021). The bed is comfortable and the room nice enough. The patio chairs were not the most comfortable, and there was broken glass all around our patio so we had to wear shoes when walking out there. The view was very nice - albeit full of construction (not the fault of the hotel of course). Overall a nice place with lots of tiny flaws that made it annoying. Maybe if you stay farther away from the night club or on one of the lower floors it would be nicer or quieter. Not sure if the bathroom issues would exist in other rooms - if it is a design flaw it probably would.

Poorly cleaned, super noisy and unsafe from a Covid perspective

Just completed a two night stay in a Deluxe balcony room on the 6th floor of Comfort Göteborg, and while the room itself was light and modern looking with wonderful views and a nicely appointed, roomy balcony, the stay as a whole left a lot to be desired. Let’s start off with the bathroom. It looked nice enough for a Swedish hotel, but the shower’s tiled floor was absolutely disgusting. It had clearly not been cleaned at all - not even with water - for a VERY long time. When you pointed the shower head towards the floor, both old soap residue and hair came off every single inch of the tiles. This was certainly not from just one guest, so the housekeeping staff clearly does not clean the shower floors at all. I’ve stayed at hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hotels and I’ve never ever had such a disgusting shower experience. Just ewww. Another MAJOR issue is that the hotel has a noisy rooftop bar that makes their deluxe rooms (all of which situated on the 6th floor, just below the rooftop bar) sound like a club. Judging from both my conversations with the front desk staff and previous Tripadvisor reviews, this complaint is extremely common, and one questions why the hotel doesn’t just turn down the volume a bit. If you choose to stay here, go for a standard room and ask for a low floor, preferably as far from the bar as possible. The third major issue was the hotel’s covid-19 response. The staff did not wear face masks despite Nordic Choice policy (and common sense) to do so. There was a complete lack of plexiglass shielding across the hotel. The hotel did have a TV screen next to the elevators asking people to please stay 3ft apart, but come on, that’s half the distance recommended by health authorities. Unacceptable. Our room was also uncomfortably cold with ice cold radiators despite the outside temperature being below freezing. When we brought this to the front desk’s attention, we got a space heater, but when we plugged it in, it blew a fuse and the room turned pitch black. While not a major issue, it didn’t exactly help the hotel’s overall impression. That said, it’s not all bad. The hotel has a good downtown location, the beds were slightly above average, the breakfast selection was good, and they have a heated basement garage. If you go with a standard room on a low floor, I think that you will be happy. But, if you want a nicer room, you should look elsewhere - I know I will (until hotel management changes cleaning protocols and turns down the music from the rooftop bar.)
