Travel around Sweden and Denmark by car. Visiting friends, staying at different hotels, visiting a School. We arrived late in Göteborg. We had not received an answer from the hotel about parking and charging the car. As the garage is not in the building, it took an extra hour to get the car parked. The bar was really loud (Friday evening) and the area in front of the hotel crowded with party guests parading their cars, unpleasant to arrive and get your luggage through the party crowd. Beware of the pool: it costs a ridiculous amount extra to go there. The breakfast is a mass feeding you can not opt out from. The restaurant wanted to eat at was closed and a very unfriendly waiter just shouted at us that they serve no food and ran away to the party. The hotel is beautiful but not well maintained. It has seen better days.

no staff at the baggage room and it was accessible by anyone! the hotel did not take any responsibility for it, you'd just had to hope nothing would go wrong. there was no safe box in the room, they were out of flipflops and when we wanted to use the spa, they told us to go barefoot instead! they didn't have enough staff to bring things (like toothpaste) to the room, instead we had to go to the reception ourselves and buy such things. and lastly no umbrellas available 5 min after raining started which is odd for a hotel in city that is always raining!

Well......for a start, the hotel definitely needs a restoration. The location is the very best, couldn't possibly be better in Gothenburg. But the amenities have much to wish for. Hotel's run down, it needs to be looked over, in every corner. The security for luggage is poor, no surveillance. The room I stayed in had no instructions how to use the tv where all the info about the hotel probably was. No instructions how to reach the check in desk, times for check out and so on, restaurants, breakfast times, no price list for the in room bar, not even a bottle opener (!). Staff was pretty uninterested in guests. Check in, first impression, was a non experience. Checking out was better! Breakfast - too busy (even though we stayed during the "end" of pandemic time and we had to book a certain time for our breakfast for it not to be overcrowded), poor when it came to special diets, the usual ones, that is. Disappointed. We got a thought that the hotel doesn't have to bother due to the very best location in the city. Shape it up!

If you're a globe-trotter like me you miss a lot of things that make a hotel experience outstanding here, such as small and exclusive treats, impeccable customer service and extraordinary interiors. My stay at Clarion Post wasn't outstanding for a number of reasons but I do recognise a few things that make the hotel a go-to in Gothenburg. Here are the Pros and Cons: -Location is definitely a great pro. The hotel is just a few steps away from the main station as much as there are trams and buses available at your doorstep. -If you have never been to Sweden, pay attention to the breakfast. It's definitely another pro. Hotel's Breakfast in Scandinavia in general, are extremely generous and they normally serve an extensive variety of pastries and bread accompanied with hot dishes, fruits and veggies. I absolutely love it! At Clarion Post isn't different. Besides, the breakfast place is gorgeous, spacious and very hip. Probably one of my favourite views at the hotel. -The room amenities are decent. You get to sleep in a comfy bed, high standard bed linen, the bathroom comes with a bath and basic beauty kit. I wasn't a big fan of the room I was allocated to because it was located in the old part of the hotel. I feel like they could have made an effort to provide the best experience one could get once I was there, but they didn't. -I've asked for a baby bassinet cause we visited the hotel with our newborn, he was 4 months by then and to my surprise, the bassinet never made it to the room. I called once to remind them but I don't think room service acknowledged the need. In the end, the baby slept between the two of us in a queen bed which wasn't nice hence we have a king at home. (If you're not travelling on business and are picking a hotel for holidays and entertainment, make sure you choose one that offers a better room experience you'd have a home, especially if you're travelling with kids). -I must say the Clarion Post hotel restaurant was the highlight of our stay. Normally people don't make an effort to speak to you in English even though most of the population in Sweden is English speaker, but here, we've got an amazing waitress which really made the restaurant stand out from all other amenities. We had a 4-course meal paired with champagne and wine, it was all very simple and well-executed I remember really enjoying the dessert. Besides, the restaurant is situated in a prime location of the building, it just offers really great vibes and I absolutely recommend it even if you're not staying in the hotel. -
