Resonably-priced option in a central location, awesome staff

Comfort hotel sixth floor bizarre.

In over 25 years of travelling in hundreds of hotel nights this is the worst night I have ever spent in a hotel. My wife and I booked into the hotel and was given a 6 floor room or should I say pidgeon coupe or prison cell. When we entered the dark poorly lit floor, the hallway to me look more like prison camp than a hotel. Entering the room even made it worse. These rooms are seriously dark and claustrophobic, not suitable for two people. They may be ideal for single people or backpackers. After about an hour in the room I could not breath from the lack of fresh air. I spent the rest of the night sitting on the lounge in the lobby. Only my wife was very tired and was already asleep I would have ask to be moved or checked out.

This hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the Oslo S Central train station and is a convenient walk towards all the top tourists sights. The rooms are a tad on the small side (compared to American hotel rooms) but still very comfy. The staff are very helpful and friendly and go out of their way to help you feel welcome and comfortable, they will help you with any questions. The free breakfast buffet is amazing and filling. Worth every penny if you're trying to save money on high priced food in Oslo. The best part is the rooftop view of the harbor and opera house! We loved it here.

This was an almost schizophrenic experience. Some features were terrific while others baffling or just poor. Of the former I would start with location - very convenient to the central station, the opera, the main drag (Karl Johans Gate), as well as lots of trams and buses. At the same time not a lot of traffic and a generally quiet neighborhood. Also, the gym - one of the best equipped for actual lifting that I have seen in a mid-priced hotel. The breakfast was also pretty good, if not spectacular, with the bread selection especially pleasing to my tastes. On the other hand ... the rooms lacked what I would consider some pretty standard amenities. Like drawers or even shelves. Really. There was no space to unpack in/on-to except for a few hangers on a poorly designed rod that seems to invite skull-cracking. The AC functioned just so-so and the WiFi was annoyingly fickle. No in-room safe and no real facilities for valuables' safekeeping. The personnel was uneven at best. Simple requests were often met with near-contemptuous surprise and refusal. With one prominent exception most assistance was performed grudgingly when it was done at all. The breakfast area is poorly designed, with no "flow", causing people to wander back and forth, bumping into each other and slowing things down. And things were slow already because the place seemed to be frequented by organized tours which often resulted in several groups, of 40 people each, showing up simultaneously. I would be more generous with the rating if the price were a deal. But even by Oslo standards it seemed average at best. And so is my final score.

Stayed here for one night in November 2016. The location of the hotel and the gym in the basement made me book a room here. Was looking forward to a good night's sleep but the soundproofing in the room was terrible. Got a room nearest to the lift and I could hear everything; the neighboring rooms' television and their toilet flushing as well as the chatter from guests in the corridor. The basement gym was the best part of the hotel. Breakfast was alright, nothing exceptional but the free flow tea & coffee by the lobby was a nice touch. I really wanted to love this hotel but the soundproofing really needs a lot of work. Would come back for the gym though (providing I get a room furthest away from the lift).
