Big, beautiful and impressive was the thing that hit me when we came driving up to the entrance of the hotel. We were 8 girl friends booked inn for the weekend rented a big apartment with 3 bedrooms. The apartment was perfect for us though it was just bunkbed with space for two personnes on the lower bunk on two of the bedrooms. The kitchen was good equipped but the dishwasher fairly inconvenient. Nice livingroom with a big dining table and a separate living area with sofa big enough for everybody. Very comfy beds. The spa area was lovely but we were unlucky to experience the water plant / fire system in the ceiling went under a sauna ritual. That was actually very frightening for us who was sitting right where it happend. After this, the spa department was completely flooded by water. Lucky me could go straight down for an prebooked massasje..and that was just what I needed. The young male masseur was very good and agreeable. The restaurant had mixed up our reservation but gave us a good deal on the buffet which we accepted. The buffet was wonderful for breakfast and dinner. All in one we were very satisfied with our stay and hopefully we will get the oppertunity to come back again. Varmly reccommended.

Dear Kjersti, Thank you for a wonderful feedback. It was our pleasure to have you and your friends as our guest during the weekend. I do one more time apologize for the misstake of the dinner reservations, and about the situation in the sauna we are very sorry that you experienced that - but luckily no one was harmed by the water pressure. Hoppe to see you soon back here with all of your friends or family! Have a nice day!

Norefjell Ski & Spa looked great from a distance as we arrived. A big hotel surrounded by smaller cottages quite close to the skiing we all hoped for, adults and children. The lady in the reception was nice and welcoming. We were given a small apartment in one of the cottages. The car was of course full with suitcases and skies and boots and helmets and all the things you need to go slalom. It turned out that we couldn’t drive our car close to the cottage to unpack and park it afterwards. We had to park in the garage of the hotel and carry the entire luggage through half the compound, including using the elevators, moving outdoor over a ski trail to our cottage. And there were no signs whatsoever. Of course we did start out the wrong way. Luckily we found a nice gentleman who could guide us in the right direction. Once at the cottage, we discovered that the door slammed back close automatically, so we had to get one bag, open the door with the key, get it in the bag, unload, go out for the next bag, and repeat the process. Then up the stairs to another door with the same automatic smacking and the same procedure was on again. Finally we were in the corridor and had to go hunting for the apartment. No signs whatsoever there either, until you were standing in front of the door, were we found a small number and a photo with the text “use map and compass” (no, I am not kidding. Thanks for the advice). We were starting to suspect that the guys designing this resort neither had traveled with ski equipment nor had visited any hotels before doing the drawings. The apartment can only be described as rather small. The bathroom surely must have been designed by a former U-boat captain, used to maneuver in tiny spaces. There were no places to put your toilet bags, or any hooks for the towels. The basin was a joke, of the smallest possible kind. In addition, the toilet wasn’t clean. And the shower cabinet wasn’t attached to the floor, so when you showered, the whole bath room was flooded. We paid extra for sheets (yes, you have to do that or bring your own). But don’t for a moment think the beds were done. The resort had only landed a plastic bag on the bed. Pay extra and do it yourself. And then we discovered that the mattress on the bed was 30 cm smaller than the bed. We went to the reception to get another mattress for the room and also asked for two additional pillows. The mattress soon arrived and two extra pillows, without pillowcases of course. To add insult to injury, our stay happened to coincide with some kind of gathering for a society or a club who used a big party tent just outside our apartment. Hurrah, party all night long. I don’t know quite what I think is most thoughtless. To place a family with children in an apartment close to the party tent, or arranging a party in a tent in the middle of the winter when there surely must have been spaces inside the hotel large enough. After the first day of skiing, we tried the pool (entrance nicely included in the price). In the wardrobe we found out that half of the lockers weren’t working. You guessed it, no signs telling which locker was broken. You had to try them out and see if you were lucky. Since there were many families in the wardrobe, there indeed was a lot of shuffling of clothes. The best part of this is that for the two nights we paid more than 5.800 NOK (about 580 Euros), and that price didn’t include breakfast. Don’t ask what we paid for the plastic bag with the sheets, you don’t want to know. I can’t say I would recommend Norefjell Ski & Spa to anyone coming to Norway to do skiing. There are a number of better places. To end on a more positive note, the breakfast buffet was descent. The dinner restaurant had good food and positive, flexible and friendly service. And on the day we left we found a pizza restaurant with excellent service and good food. But on the whole, we are not planning to return. It felt like a low budget experience for a too stiff price.
