This hotel is in a good location, it looked a little strange as we approached but were pleasantly surprised once inside. We had a room with a view of the Fjord but very important you request this as many rooms would be looking back towards buildings and railway. Rooms comfortable, great terrace bar on the top floor with amazing views. The Breakfast.......WOW! It was five star, the choice was incredible and delicious, well done!

I have stayed at the hotell three times and the service is excellent. Once I was charged to much, but the manager contacted me shortly after in order to return the differance. The rooms are modern, comfortable and well kept but ocean view is really preferable. The only downside with this hotel is the breakfast/lunch area, witch feels somewhat unpersonal. However, the food is good. Besides, the restaurant in the top floor is really worth trying.

Large room with good bed and excellent pillows. Everything was nice and clean. They made a mistake and put in a cot for our son who is 8. But reception called up the minute we entered the room and a new bed was delivered less than 10 minutes after by the friendliest lady ever. The breakfast was great, with pancakes and on order omelettes. The only bad experience with this hotel was the dinner we had the first night at the Astrum. The food was mediocre and the staff was completely lacking any interest in us as guests. Too bad, since everything else was really good.

My wife and I are just finishing our stay at the Clarion Hotel & Congress Trondheim. It has been a good stay overall. Our room was comfortable. It was equipped with blackout drapes, a real plus for summer this far north. They serve an excellent breakfast. Parking is convenient. Overall it's a very good place to stay. My wife is a serious lap swimmer so being located next to Pirbadet aquatic center was a real plus for us. The hotel is situated near the Hurtigruten piers so it's set a bit apart from central Trondheim. It's a short walk to the center. We used a pedestrian bridge next to the train station for easy access to the center. Our only complaint is that the front desk seems to only be staffed by a single person. This is too large a hotel for that. We also like to take a restaurant referral in a new city. We were told of a few places, one which we wanted to try. However, we walked there only to find out they were closed for summer holiday. That is something informed major hotel staff should know. There doesn't seem to be a dedicated concierge. A hotel this size which also serves as a conference center should have a concierge. Most staff were polite and helpful though, especially those working the breakfast.

Stayed one night at this hotel during the high-season in July 2016. I asked politely for a room in one of the upper floors or with an ocean view to be able to make the stay as amazing as possible when showing off beautiful Norway to my better half, none was met thanks to a fully booked hotel, which was a bit depressing as we got a room on the 2nd floor facing the brick building on the other side of the street.. The receptionists were friendly, but understandably very stressed. The breakfast was ok, not amazing, there could've been a bigger variety of coffees, only offering black coffee from a machine, and there is a lack of gluten-free alternatives. The best thing about this hotel is the restaurant/roof top bar and the lobby architecture.
