Here at Nordic Choice Hotels, we do our best to offer our guests sustainable, local and organic food. Earlier this year, our hotels were all MSC-certified, meaning that all wild fish is caught using sustainable methods to prevent overfishing and the destruction of our oceans. Meanwhile the ASC promotes the sustainable farming of fish.
Not just prawns
Nordic Choice Hotels cares about many more things than just seafood. Our hotels are palm oil-free and we recently signed an agreement to halve our food waste by 2030. Some of our hotels have actually also started growing food on their roof terraces and the produce is then used in their restaurants!
Meet the new ASC prawn
So, more about the previously banished tiger prawn. The plan is of course to prevent these particular prawns being used at our hotels and restaurants, and instead to opt for the new ASC-certified tiger prawns. We want prawn-lovers to be able to delight in them while not harming the planet. Our hotels are the first hotels in Sweden to do so! The Aquaculture Stewardship Council or ASC works to promote the sustainable farming of fish. Because we do of course want to be able to continue eating fish in the future, don’t we? And that requires new, ethical and environmentally friendly methods of farming!
