1. Interesting art and powerful surroundings at Kullaberg

Kullaberg, Skåne

At the far end of the Kulla peninsula in Skåne, just over 45 minutes by car from Helsingborg, lies the Kullaberg nature reserve. The place is best known for Nimis – a controversial artwork by Lars Vilks. On the rocky beach towards Öresund, Vilks has built a world of towers, walkways, and rooms with the help of collapsed planks and branches that have washed onto land. Over 160,000 nails hold together this strange structure, which attracts over 40,000 visitors annually. A visit to Kullaberg can also be combined with a trip to nearby Mölle – a popular tourist town where the population triples during the summer months.

2. Kivik market – a charming market in Österlen

Kivik, Skåne

Fishing boats, apple orchards, culture and beautiful beaches – the old fishing village of Kivik in the south-east of Skåne is really one of the gems of Österlen. (Österlen is the name of the plains in south-eastern Skåne). In the old town you will find Kivik’s market – a market that is visited annually by over 100,000 people. The market is one of Sweden's largest and most visited of its kind. On the market held between 5th – 8th July 2024 you will find stalls selling everything from curiosities to food, but also entertainment and activities. For the children, William Arnes’s famous motorcycle circus of is very popular; otherwise there is also Axel's funfair at the market.

Quality Hotel Grand Kristianstad is located just over 50 kilometres from Kivik and offers good accommodation for the whole family. The hotel is in the centre of Kristianstad, with a fine location facing the Trefoldighetskirken – the city's most valuable gem, completed in 1628.

Huskvarna & Gränna, Småland/Östergötland

The well-known Jönköping artist John Bauer got his inspiration in life from the neighbourhoods around Huskvarna and the Polkagris (a Swedish type of rock sweet) town of Gränna. Today, the most beautiful path between these two cities is named after him, and definitely worth a visit. On the way you and your family can stop by the Open Air Museum at Grännaberget and enjoy a wonderful and extraordinary nature experience. Here are maps and tips for the trail.

Among other things, old cabins, monastery ruins and the water make the walk a memorable and educational experience. On Grännaberget, 350 metres above sea level, you have a magical view of the four landscapes that surround Sweden's second largest lake, Vättern. In Jönköping you have several central lodging possibilities to choose from. If you would like to combine your holiday with a visit to lovely Skövde which is located approx. 70 kilometres away, the Quality Hotel Prisma is an excellent family hotel. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings at Boulogner Park, a green oasis in the middle of the city.

4. Discover the fantastic Dalarna and Leksand Sommarland

Leksand, Darlarna

Sweden has many adventure parks and summer parks to visit. At Siljan's beach in Dalarna lies Leksand Sommarland - a popular tourist destination, that many visitors return to. The water park has three pools that are heated to approx. 28 degrees, several water canons and water slides where you slide down on inflatable rings. Motor activities, skip rope trails, fairground rides and restaurants - at the summer in Leksand there is something for everyone. Summerland is located in beautiful Leksand, best known for its ice hockey team, midsummer celebrations and its fine craftsmanship.

In charming Falun and fast-growing Borlänge there are many sights and magnificent nature that can offer fantastic experiences all year round.

5. Lådbilslandet in Nykvarn - makes small children feel big with cartcars

Nykvarn, Södermanland

Approx. 15 kilometres west of Södertälje lies the village of Nykvarn. In the cosy town lies a real summer pearl for all toddlers, in the form of the Lådbilslandet (lit. Cartcar Country). At Lådisbillandet, children can really drive a car - the cartcars have real engines and run on a paved area in a built-up mini-town with bridges, roundabouts and crossroads. Car, bus, police car or truck - at Lådbilslandet your children can test what it is like to drive and be an adult. In addition, there is an activity area with rides, bouncy castles, playground, an obstacle course and much more. The perfect excursion destination for those who want to visit Stockholm, or for those who are on their way to a destination and need a break on the way.

At Quality Hotel Park Södertälje you can stay in charming rooms with the city park as your closest neighbour. Södertälje is a good base for excursions with its proximity to Stockholm and other interesting cities such as Uppsala, Örebro and Eskilstuna.
