Jobb hos oss

Job satisfaction and health

It is really very simple: Satisfied employees means satisfied guests.

Low sick leave rates

Traditionally, sick leave rates in the hotel business have been high. In the past year, the amount of sick leave taken by staff has fallen. The second good news is that Nordic Choice staff are off sick to a lesser extent than others. Our sick leave rate is well below the hotel industry average, as well as the average in other industries. In 2011, the total rate was 3.95 %. The average sick leave rate in Norway was 5.2 %, and the hotel industry average 6.8 %.

We want our staff to enjoy good health

Our goal is that all staff should enjoy good health. In order to achieve this, we are dedicated to offering our staff healthy food and safe work practises, and we encourage them to engage in physical exercise and to quit smoking.

In Nordic Choice, it is never too late to start exercising. During The Holmenkollen Relay  (see picture), 14 Nordic Choice teams participated. In addition, we assisted two teams consisting of visually impaired runners. Next year, we plan to include even more people.

Response is vital

We conduct annual staff surveys in order to map out the work situation and job satisfaction at our hotels. Coupled with our sick leave rate, the survey gives a good indication of how our employees feel about their jobs. It also presents our staff with an opportunity to say what they think, and gives the management an idea of our staff are coping at work. We believe our employees do a better job when they are happy at work.

Best place to work

The fact that our staff thrive at work has also been duly noted by others: for five years running we have been awarded the prize ‘Best place to Work’ by Grand Travel Awards.
