We are staying here on the off season, and it looks like they are well prepared for kids during the tourist season. I saw some rooms downstairs for some kind of childcare activities, along with a nice swimming pool, sauna and workout room. There is also an abundance of different common rooms with couches and chairs for sitting around with pretty big groups. The rooms are decent and clean, with comfy beds, and TV. I might warn that the walls transfer sound very easily. I was chatting with my colleague through the walls with no problem hearing him speak. I will also note that the doors slam loud. I was a bit annoyed by the shampoo in the bathrooms. Just packets of shampoo that are kind of tricky to open. The breakfast was ok but not terrific. Sometimes the mackerel was old etc....but not a bad breakfast overall. I was a bit baffled that there was no toaster, however, I did not ask if there was one. Our first dinner was pretty bad. We all had the cheeseburger and fries in the lounge area but there was so much sugar in the barbecue sauce and the mayonnaise sauce that the burger was kind of ruined. My advice is to request any sauce on the side if you want the burger. The lounge also has a live piano player every night which is cool! We tried the dinning room ran by the same chef a few days later and had a surprisingly good steak and gravy with excellent crispy potatoes. The gravy was very salty for me and I was thirsty all night after the meal but it tasted really good. Note that they had guest tables pre selected weather you were eating at the hotel or not. We tried to get a window seat and were not allowed to sit at the window, even though there were only 2 parties seated that night. A bit strange. Overall this is a decent hotel with a few quirks and if you can live with them, go for it. Nice views on the waterfront side as well.

One of my favorite things during our stay is the view to the lake, and possibility to enjoy the environment surrounding it. Information on recommended walks (normal or expert) is just near-by the hotel. It is important to know as no pedestrian street for longer walking. The breakfast offers enough selection that you will find something. The information in the room is quite useful. Interesting events occur in the weekend. The lobby area and restaurant look fantastic. But...I consider the room is quite old. March is still a cold month, and I think the electric oven is not enough warm-up the room. I also found the bathroom floor is quite cold although it has electric cable.

My husband and I were in a group tour and we stopped here overnight on Sept 21st 2016 on our way to Bergen. The hotel seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, just a few houses nearby, but there's a beautiful lake across the road and the hotel grounds itself is nicely kept with a few apple trees and some other plants. Our room was on the groundfloor facing the back of the hotel, and when we looked out from the window the scenery was such that it felt like we're in a small quaint village. The room was small but clean and adequate for 1 night's stay. We had dinner in the hotel and since there was another tour group there, the restaurant was very crowded and moving to and from the buffet station to get food and back to our table was not easy. The food was okay, there's something for everybody, if you don't eat meat there's fish and plenty of vegetables. During breakfast the next morning we had the breakfast room (restaurant) all to ourselves because the other group left earlier... and that was quite a relief. The breakfast selection was more than adequate. Overall I would say this hotel is alright for an overnight stop.
