The Quality Hotel is an average hotel, breakfast was fine with plenty of selection. The room was comfortable enough for our one night stay. There were a few minor issues with the room. One problem that appears in many hotels was no hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes/towels. No place to put the luggage and no plugs in the bathroom to plug in the hairdryer. The bathtub was dangerous getting in and out due to its height off the floor.

The town is quality; the hotel not so much. Sogndal is a small town in Norway situated within the spectacular fijords. My wife and I were there in August, and encountered 72 degree weather, with spots of glacier and unmelted snow here and there. Eye candy everywhere. When you travel to a small town, you should not expect top-notch accommodations. You do the best you can. I am sure that the Quality is the top hotel in this small town. However, the management and hygiene of this establishment left much if not all to be desired. The young people in charge seemed not to know what to do, nor even care. This was distressingly different than all of our experiences in this most friendly country. If you travel this way, be warned. It is not horrific, and probably worth the experience in the Sogndal area, but I would not recommend eating there, and if you care to imbibe, you may have to instruct the bartender. If you have any needs, you will need to be flexible about this as well. The room was basic, not overly clean, uncomfortable, and the lobby had a large area without light, giving a rather strange, uninviting first impression. One or two nights, you'll enjoy the surroundings.

One of the main purposes of a hotel is to provide a comfortable place to sleep. I'm afraid that the Quality Hotel fell down on this. Firstly, I do get annoyed when I have booked a double room when it's just two single beds pushed together so that when you roll over to have a cuddle with your partner, you find yourself stuck in the gap between the beds. Then there was the beds themselves. They were the sort of beds that you would maybe buy as a first big bed for your kids. They were not at all comfortable. The pillow appeared to be a bag thinly filled with lumps. The decor was tired and in desperate need of updating - the furniture was the sort you would buy in a cheap DIY store. So I was not greatly impressed with the room. Breakfast was OK, but nothing to write home about. I'm not sure what the other hotels in the are are like, but I'm sure they could do better than this, so look elsewhere.
