Look for other options. Quality not so much.

We have been Choice Hotel members since 2008, and of all the stays all over the world, this is the first bad experience we have ever had. This hotel is difficult to find with GPS even with directions provided by helpful locals. After almost 45 minutes of searching, we were about to give up when we spotted it. The hotel is perpendicular to the road and their sign is dark. We should have stayed at the Best Western. Free parking. If you don't find one of the few spots near the front door, there is a public parking lot in the back of the building. You will then have to carry your luggage from the parking lot through the rear garden, patio, conference area, past the bar and restaurant to get the reception desk. The NordicChoice Hotel computer system was down so we couldn't reserve a room online or use our points. Even though the manager knew the NordicChoice website was down, we were charged the maximum rate of almost $200 per night. If it hadn't been so late, we would have hauled our luggage back to the car and left. Housekeeping attention is indifferent at best. Lots of improvement needed. Husband went to the sink to wash his face and and found a wad of soapy hair (see photo) hanging from the stopper. We showed the manager and he said housekeeping would take care of it in the morning. Let's hope they took care of the broken trashcan, too. Bathtubs sides are very narrow and slippery so we had to stand sideways to avoid falling down while showering. There are two elevators almost next to each other, but only one set works. Have fun figuring out which one. The only things quality about our stay was the young desk clerk who tried his very best for 30 minutes to get the NordicChoice website to function...it wouldn't, and the breakfast was very good -- tasty with nice variety.

The hotel is located in the center of Sogndal, the provincial capital of Sogndal municipality, next to the bus station and just off the main roads through the region. There is a walking path which will lead you to the Sognefjord and through the village with its stores, cafes and boat terminal. The Norwegian Glacier Museum, the Sogn Folkmuseum and the Kaupanger Stavekjerke are close by. We found the recently updated room to be larger than most of the hotels we stayed at in Norway and it had a very nice bathroom with heated tile floor. The beds were the standard Norwegian single bed, long and narrow (by American standards) with a mattress over a box spring and bed linens consisting of a bottom sheet and a duvet. The breakfast buffet, included in the cost of the room, was very good with a large selection of both hot and cold options. Much appreciated was the wait staff to which kept our coffee and tea cups full during the meal. Due to our travels in the area we arrived back in the city late, tired, and not very hungry so we had a light dinner at Vågal Burger and Gin in the hotel. The food was delicious and the service was great. Although we did not avail ourselves of them there are also an Italian restaurant (on the top floor) and a buffet style dinner located where the breakfast buffet is served. Next time we stay here, or at any hotel in Norway, we will be sure to bring along extension cords (limited electric plugs), “Command” hooks (use to hang clothes, towels or other things in bathroom), hair dryer (usually under-powered), and light weight sheet blankets. I highly recommend you use a hanging toiletry bag for your cosmetics or shave kit (most bathrooms have very limited space to lay things on).

The rooms are very small for the party of 4 (2 Adults and 2 children -16 &19) so technically 3 adults and 1 child; child has to sleep with parents, but all 3 beds in the room are single beds, & when you join two beds, the mattress on each bed hardly cover one person, image 3 people sleeping on two mattresses!!! and also there is no separate blanket for the child. Even the bath towels in the room were for 3 people, had to ask for 4th bath towel.
