The hotel is in a street with many great bars. It's also extremely close to the railway station and bus station. It's literally in the center of the city. My room was decent sized. Comfy bed. Mid-range TV with enough Film-channels to keep me entertained. Mini-bar with space enough to just chill drinks I brought myself. Good internet connection. And their restaurant had a great breakfast table, with both warm and cold dishes. They had a good coffee-machine too. My only big grievance with the staff was that the maid left me less towels than I had already used. However, the receptionist had some more towels delivered to my room, so in the end I was happy. I also had to use the soap dispenser in the shower because the maid didn't refill the one by the sink. It's sort of the small things that can annoy you to the degree you deduct a point from your rating. Speaking of showers, it didn't have the kind of water pressure I'm used to. But that's common for all hotels I've stayed in. Speaking of the sink, it drained very slowly. I don't know if it was part of a ploy to save water by forcing people turn off the tap while brushing their teeth. That was sort of annoying, but not a big deal. I also think the maid yanked my door open the day I was checking out, even though I put up a do not disturb sign on the door. I don't know for sure, I just think I heard the door open and close while I was on the porcelain throne. I had definitely locked the door, so it must have been someone with a universal key-card. It seems my biggest grievance with this hotel was the maid-service, really. Although the room itself was pretty clean on arrival. I got a room on the top floor, so I had a great view. Directly outside my room there was some sort of long balcony. They seemed to be working on it, and I think it could have some potential of being a great addition to the room. However, it's currently not a place I felt like staying out on. Great view of the city though. I like to eat a wholesome breakfast. And everything I ate from their buffet was great. Fruits, muesli, eggs and bacon, bread, salmon, herring, ham, cheeses. Great way to start the day. Their whole restaurant was a big breakfast buffet. This hotel is also the most upscale one you can find in Sandnes, so you have the chance to spot minor celebs. I saw a football team having during breakfast. The people working the breakfast tables were watching over us as if it was a prison ground, and once I left the table to restock on some food they grabbed my plates and coffee (which I left to chill). But no big deal, I can understand why they want to free up tables quickly. I just grabbed yet another cup of coffee every time I went to grab some food. The next day I made sure to bring a jacket to signal to other guests the table was occupied. Still didn't stop the staff from grabbing everything as soon as I left the table. Actually, that was more funny than annoying, as I was perfectly free to grab new items from the buffet. However, one thing you need to know about this hotel is that it seems to be popular with families. The breakfast room was filled with kids running around aimlessly. Outside my room some kids were running up and down the hallway at 18:00, I took a nap and a couple of hours later I could still hear them running. I'm certain I could have ended it if I got out and gave them a talking to, but I just couldn't be bothered. All in all, a good hotel. I would certainly suggest it to people asking me for a good place to stay in Sandnes.
