Came across this hotel by chance. Driving from Copenhagen to Norway and had been looking for a hotel since crossing the border and ended up following the "Hotell" sign from the road. Was not sure at first there would be anything at the end of the road. This hotel is isolated and surrounded by woodland. Rather pleasant really and the leaflets in the rooms clearly show how the hotel supports the environment. The car park was full and the hotel clearly caters for coach parties as there were 4 or 5 coaches parked. From the outside the building appears to be 70's/80's style glass box. The entrance is large and welcoming. I noticed a play area, Apple computer for guest use and tea and coffee available. Greeting at reception was warm and friendly and having travelled all day was pleased to get a room and dinner served till 2200 was good news. Room 529 is close to the lift, comfortably equipped although a little dated. TV & hair dryer available. The bathroom has no bath - just a shower that flows onto the floor and water exits through a grid in the floor. The full length glass door that is hinged to the wall separates the shower area from the rest of the room. There is no dedicated floor pan. The rubber seal on the bottom of the glass door did not do a thorough job of containing the water which was able to make it's way across the floor. We felt encouraged to have the buffet option for dinner which was clearly laid out for a group and not labelled in English. The offering was not to our taste so we ordered from the menu. Not extensive but adequate. There were very few guests visible outside the restaurant area however the bar staff were clearly very busy sorting out something at the till which appeared to take priority over anything else. My attempted enquiry about the Norwegian traditional spirit drink did not progress too far. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was extensive and good quality. This is not a luxury hotel but is well located with our drive to Oslo in the morning taking about 20 minutes. You'll find some nice touches, everything you need and wont feel you have paid too much. I would stay again.

Dear Thomas Thank you for taking your time to give us feedback here on Tripadvisor. I am very happy to see that you enjoyed staying at Quality Hotel Mastemyr and you enjoyed our service. Regarding the rooms you are correct. We started a project a few years ago and changed all the furniture in the rooms, tv's, new carpets and so on. We have also redone a few of the bathrooms. However, during this year we will finish approx 30-35 more bathrooms. We already finished redoing the restaurant areas and conference rooms. Hope to see you here at Mastemyr sometime in the future. Best regards Sjur Aalvik General Manager Quality Hotel Mastmeyr
