We were spontaneously looking for a SPA resort near Oslo for one night so we chose Norefjell. We expected quite something for the price and became a little bit sceptic during the long ride up the hill from Noresund. But when we finally reached the resort we were just impressed. It is beautifully located on a high plateau surrounded by smooth hills and nothing else than nature and quietness. Though the hotel is a huge building it does not look displaced in this area. The public areas are furnished in an elegant but a little dark style with much wood. We felt very comfortable there, although we usually do not like it so rustic. In the guest rooms the furniture is more modern but also very elegant and cosy. They are not very big but absolutely enough. We liked the modern and cool style of the bathrooms especially what made it fun to take a shower. The beds were very comfortable so we had a good rest. Our highlight of the resort was the amazing spa area. There are two separate facilities. A public one with a pool, a whirlpool and two saunas what is open to all guests. The private spa area is only accessible for guests who booked a spa treatment and features three outdoor whirlpools and one more sauna. It is just a perfect spot and must be even better in winter when it is surrounded by snow. The spa treatments were surely not cheap but worth any kronor we spent there. After the massage we had a lot of time to relax, drink excellent tea and enjoy the landscape. I read a lot about bad food in the resort here on Tripadvisor. I can absolutely not share these comments. We had a 3-course dinner included in our arrangement and enjoyed every bit of it. The wine and spirit selection is very extensive. The breakfast buffet was also amazing. Although there were not many guests everything was freshly prepared and delicious. The staff at the reception, the bar, in the spa and in the restaurant was very friendly and helpful. Norefjell is for sure expensive but in our opinion worth it’s money. We will for sure come back – and stay longer next time.

I had an amazing time staying at this hotel a weekend in march. The hotel is beautiful in it self and the location great. We were a group of friends staying there and had a blast. The ski slopes are great, and they offer a lot of other outdoor activities, competitions etc. which are really fun. The food at the restaurant is amazing and the bar was also great; good music, friendly staff and lots of people. I have to say that one of my favorite parts of the hotel is their SPA - amazing! Lots of different pools inside, and outside there were several jacuzzis - which were especially beautiful during winter and in between all the snow. They lit a fireplace just beside and the atmosphere was just perfect! I'd love to go back again soon!

My Norwegian husband brought me to this resort for one night and two days of skiing, as its in relative close proximity to Oslo. We have lived in Dubai for the last 12 years and we travel for a living, so we both have years of experience from hotels around the world. The lobby area is very nice and trendy, although the climbing wall seems a bit misplaced. Nice furniture and atmosphere around the lobby bar and fireplace. First disappointment, was that we were informed as we arrived at noon, that check in wasn't available until 4pm!! This is unheard of anywhere else in the world and very inconvenient, as we wanted to change into our skiing gear and hit the slopes. Even though the hotel wasn't even half full, they were unable and unwilling to let us access our room until their stipulated time of 4pm. When we eventually did get checked in, we realise that the rooms are very small. We both said it feels like the size of a cruise ship cabin. I was expecting a phone call, but quickly realised the in room phone was not working. There is no minibar in the room, no water kettle and to our shock we realised there were blood stains on the bed sheets. After a day of skiing, we wanted to spend some money in their bar, but was told it was closed as it was hired by private event. To completely shut your own guests out of a bar doesn't make you feel very valued. Fine, if somebody wants to hire the bar for a private event, corner a section off for them...but treat your other guests as they are equally important. The breakfast they serve is ok, but I've never been served scrambled eggs made of powder from a hotel that has any form of good reputation... Overall, it was disappointing for a reasonably expensive hotel that has good potential, but falls very short on human skills, training of their employees and general management. As we were checking out, at 11 am I might add, we asked to speak to the General Manager or someone in the hotel Management, but no one was available, except the most senior staff from reception. He was a nice young Swede who was very receptive and took notes of my feedback. Hotels and hospitality in Norway in general, has a very long way to go, to be anywhere close to an international level, and to be honest I don't think they will ever get there. I would be happy to be proven wrong though.

Thank you for taking the time to review our resort. We are sorry that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Regarding reservation of the bar for groups this is not a common procedure and we do understand your frustration on this matter. The bar is mostly open for all guests and we also offer bar service in our lobby bar. Check in time is at 16.00 but we do offer possibilities for changing rooms and opportunities to leave luggage at storage so that guests can enjoy our facilities. We hope to welcome you back to our hotel in the future and that we will exceed your expectations during your next stay with us. Kind regards, Team Norefjell

Very good familyresort. Professional staff. Restaurant somewhat overprised but ok. Nice location in the sunniest part of Norefjell facing south-west. Cross-country, slalom and playing areas just outside the village/hotel. Kitchen in all apartments. Less than 2 hours from Oslo.
