We had a family holiday at Quality Spa and Resort Dalecarlia. Everything went very well for us. We found the resort very family friendly as we had a baby with us and got all we needed to make the visit comfortable. We also had a special birthday celebration and the resort left a substantial fruit plate in our room as a birthday gift. The spa was particularly good. It was a bit of a walk from the main building but well worth it. It is free for hotel guests. The resturant is a little expensive and i thought could have varied the menu. But the breakfast buffet was excellent. The area around the hotel was very quiet. We did not not have rooms overlooking the lake but our view of the the forest was very satisfactory.

I stayed here two nights on a work conference in Janury 2015. We were more than 100 people all together, and my experience of this hotel as "mass production" is maybe a result of that. On the other hand, I have experienced other hotels which have not given that impression in the same situations. The rooms are big and comfortable, but worn. In the bathroom, some of the tiles was cracked and broken. In the doorframes, paint was peeled off and so on. Sleep quality was good, the beds were comfortable (with extra big (and extra comfortable) pillows). The lunch and dinner was not very good, I expected more from a 4 star SPA-hotel. Breakfast was OK. The hotel was located together with a SPA / Pool about 200 meters away. This was very good for adults, but there were signs there saying that all guests had to be quiet - so I guess this is not the right place to stay with children.

A good place to tour the surrounding areas of Dalerna, Sweden

Our base was at Liding O in Stockholm, and my wife and I wanted to bring our 5 year old daughter to Tomteland in Dalerna or Dalecaria, Sweden. Along with my sister and her family we were 6 that rented a mini-van and drove 4 hours NW of Stockholm to Dalerna, where our new base would be the Quality Spa & Resort. Being from Texas, we were thrilled to find plenty of the McDonald arches along the E18 and E70 motorways, but opted for the local Max burger to take a break for lunch. Mind you this is in January so, sunset began by 2:30 PM. I'll give it to the Swede's on how meticulous they are in disposing of their trash in a fast-food wherein there are separate "holes" for burnables, plastics and biodegradables. We reach our destination passing lake Siljian which was frozen at the time, but since temperatures where on the high 30's F, deeper water had began to melt. The hotel was clean, though I cannot comment much on the customer service of Sweden in general. Is this perhaps because I am used to Texas hospitality? The receptionist was somewhat cold but not rude. Dinner was at a wonderful dining hall which could spill out to a porch during warmer weather. The menu was fine dining and honestly, the restaurant servers far outdid the reception in terms of good customer service. The lobby had plenty of sitting nooks close to a fire place, and it even had an indoor kids play area. The place is definitely family friendly and we retired to our room which was clean and warm. There was room service daily during our 2 nights. What I think is great about the hotel is it's proximity to the Arts and Crafts centers which were walking distance from the hotel. Great place for buying presents for home like the Swedish trolls, wood work, glass works and the Dalecaria chocolate and ofcourse the traditional Swedish or Dalecaria horse. Also near enough to drive to was the town center of Tallberg which even had Asian and the ubiquitous Pizza/Kebab joints. The girls went for the spa ofcourse and it took a bit of hunting to find it as it was a separate building amidst private cottages. My niece actually entered one of them by mistake. Another peculiarity of the spa was the "Bring your own towel" rule. Getting back to the hotel, breakfast is served up to 10:00 or 10:30 AM and consisted of a wonderful variety of yoghurt, cereal, cold cuts, bacon and eggs, fruit, breads of all sorts, marmalade, waffles and more. I cannot complain considering breakfast is my main meal. Location is really the hotels main selling point. It was about a 20 or 30 minute drive to Tomteland or Santa land and my daughter as well as the rest of us truly enjoyed this, but will be covered on another review. Also close by are the ski slopes, and we could see people skating on the lake. But the weather was on the upper 30's so snow was limited to the ski slopes. All in all, it's one place in Sweden that should be visited as there is so much to do around the Spa. Will most likely return.

We spent a weekend at the hotel, which we tought would be 4star. We had however made our booking through Expedia and that downgraded us to a room in a building next to the hotel which was not 4 star. The personnel admitted that the accomodation in the annex was not 4 star which made us disappointed since we expexted, and payed for 4 stars, not hostel comfort. No Wifi in the room, no change of towels, no toilet paper, 100m from the mainbuilding etc. The spa at the hotel is however recommended.
