I chose this hotel because it was close to Hunderfossen amusement park where we elected to go as a break on our way to Trondheim. I chose it with the Hope of getting good night’s sleep before driving the next day. On arrival, the hotel looked good from the outside and the lobby area was nice and spacious with modern decor, although the hotel was very 80's the area of the restaurant and bar area were nice. The staff were nice and tried their best to be helpful. The hotel is advertised as a "family hotel" and there was some entertainment for little kids, but nothing for those older than five. SO much more could be done here. The children received a little carrier bag on arrival, which contained a few pages to colour and some pencils, a voucher for a free fruit and ice-cream. The only fruit available for them was an apple. The rooms in the hotel were the worst part, the decor was dated, and the rooms were small. We were four people crammed into a small room, which could be tolerated for a cheap stay in a motel or camping hut. But it was NOT cheap and not a motel. We had just arrived from central Oslo from a cheaper stay in a hotel, where the room we paid for was more than twice the size. It was just not what you would expect from a quality hotel. Sleeping was uncomfortable, the room which was basically just beds crammed in a small space was hot like a sauna, the only way to air out was to open the windows, outside was the noisy motorway with trucks passing every five minutes. We managed to get to some arrangement with the reception for the use of a bed in another room so we at least could get a couple of hours sleep before driving home, (we could no longer take the heat and the noise). Thank you to the staff for helping! Unfortunately though we slept so badly I can not rate the hotel as anything but terrible. Breakfast was OK, but not great. Summing it up staying here meant paying an unreasonable amount for very little and a bad nights sleep. Very frustrating.

We were there for a family weekend and was happy to see the hotel was nicely located. Walked in to a beautifully renovated lobby and nice hotel staff. Checked into the rooms and first thing you notice is extremely outdated they are. You have a nice plasma TV, but that is about it on the "nice" side. The rooms look like they haven't been updated since it was built in 1991. There were stains everywhere. Stains on the walls, stains on floor, stains on the ceiling (not to mention open tiles on the ceilings) cracks on the bathroom floor tile and in the shower. Just overall not a clean feeling. Then my daughter dropped something in the floor- I go to pick it up and glance under the bed and see trash left under the bed from people who previously rented the hotel room!!!!!! Yuck!!! Whomever is in charge of inspecting rooms and cleaning failed miserably. He bed however, is very comfortable, but the curtains DO NOT BLOCK OUT ANY LIGHT!!!!!!! It is pretty much daylight all day until 11 pm and light again at 3:30 or 4 am! The restaurant "Smak" is just fantastic. And the bar in the lobby was great and the kids play area downstairs is a nice touch. The hotel rooms just seriously need some TLC. I cannot believe that our room was only somewhat cleaned! Will take all of this into consideration before staying there again!

Hi Thank you for your visit and kontstruktive feedback. We work under a summer profile "children's hotel" This naturally makes it sometimes can be a little noise from the kids. Nice that you mention the important things like cleaning and our great staff. If you think that the prices at our ala carte menu is a little high, I recommend a look at our lobby menu where you can find a lot og oppertunities. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards, Erik Fostervoll, general manager.

On a business trip up North we stayed at this hotel for a break. It is good enough for a night but probably not more. This hotel therefore deserves 3/5 and here is why: 1. Hotel It was built for the Winter Olympics in 94 as I understood. And you feel it is getting old. The lobby and dining area is nice but the rest more old-fashioned. 4/5 2. Check-in The ladies were a bit overwhelmed as we were 5 people arriving at the same time. So it took a bit too long for my taste. 4/5 3. Room Small, hot, old fashioned. The floor heating was so hot in the bathroom that I felt very uncomfortable. Apropos bathroom: it looked like the one in a hospital and the soap dispenser did not work. So, if you don't have your own stuff with you, you only have water! 2/5 4. Staff Receptionists quite alright. Staff in the restaurant useless. We all had a starter and then a main course. For the latter we did not have cutlery. It took, believe it or not, 5min to get it. The food was already getting cold. The first waitress just looked and seemed to be perplexed with this simple request. Then nothing happened until our host said something in Norwegian which I believe was pretty direct as a waiter came with fork and knife immediately. Serving wine the correct way seems also not possible. 2/5 5. Breakfast I don't know how others feel but sometimes you just don't know what to take. It's this way for this establishment. Nothing really "attracting". There even was no fruit salad. Can't believe it. 3/5 6. Internet For free with good speed. Easy log-in. 5/5 Overall, you can stay there for a night but don't expect too much!

Hi Thank you for your visit and your feedback. Yes, the distance is short from the hotel to the wonderful ski slopes of Hafjell. It is a great hotel with more interest and activity opportunities in our area is unique. Welcome back to Quality Hotel & Resort Hafjell as our guest. Hope to see you again soon.
