YES! It is the best location in Oslo and YES! they have a cool bar and restaurant....But is it worth the money? Hmmm. Not really sure. The rooms were beautiful but very dark. REALLY dark. My tiny balcony was not big enough for a chair and the playground from the school outside of my window was nerving. Room service served without salt and pepper, glass, napkin. Restaurant closed at 2200. I found it cool and again LOVED the location but just not sure....

We stayed for three nights and the room/bathroom was both clean and comfortable. I am not a fan of yellow lighting and would prefer spotlights as the yellow casts a rather sickly ambience to the room and it's difficult to see to dress or put on make up. Unfortunately the bathroom shares the same type of lighting. The room had a coffee making machine but I couldn't see instructions on how to work it and it was placed rather too high inside a cabinet for me to be able to see how to use it..... perhaps this is an age thing! Staff were delightful and unfailingly pleasant and polite. Overall I would recommend this hotel for your stay in Oslo as it's in a very nice area and close to varied restaurants and all the things you might want to visit.

Great staff, cool lobby bar with lots of interesting drinks, terrific location in Tjuvholmen on the fjord and near a lot of attractions, free entry to the intriguing Astrup Fearnley Museum and nice rooms. As I said, a bit pricey, but worth it. The breakfast buffet was very good and there is Norwegian art in the lobby and hallways.

This hotel (in an area notorious in the 18th century for robbers, hence the name) is located opposite the museum of modern art, just by the side of the water. It is a smart, modern hotel whose rooms are well equipped. Our room (608) had a very comfortable bed, espresso machine, desk and flexible bedside lights, as well as a good walk-in shower. It had plentiful electrical sockets, many at desk level, so you do not have crawl around the floor to find a socket to recharge your phone. The hotel has an open air bar on the top (9th) floor with lovely views over the sea, which is a bonus in good weather. The staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful, and spoke flawless English. About the only drawback is that the location is slightly out of the very centre of town, though it is a short cab ride or indeed just about walkable to the main tourist area. One thing to note is that the hotel is accessed by car via what looks like an underground car park, so don't be alarmed when, if you come here by can for the first time, the taxi veers unexpectedly down a ramp. At the hotel itself there is no taxi rank, but the staff will order a cab for you, and I never waited more than five minutes (Oslo can actually be a quite tricky city to get a cab at busy times, though Uber also works in Oslo). The hotel has free wifi with a respectable if not exactly racy speed of 6 MBps. About the only thing I would change is the absence of a pad and pen next to the phone or desk to make notes. One other minor quibble is that the spa and pool are chargeable extras

Hip, trendy, cool & welcoming hotel

We stayed at the Thief at the end of a one week cruise of the Fjords and could not have asked for a more perfect ending to our holidays. The hotel is located just minutes away from the promenade on a modern, newly developed marina. It's architecture is cutting edge and avant garde. The view from our room was of the office buildings opposite so if you want a sea view, make sure to mention this on booking. We were not bothered as we had just come off a week long cruise of the fjords so had seen more than enough nature by then. The interior can only be described as über trendy, chique and arty. The lobby and check in counter is a little small and dark with only two desks so I'd hate to see the lobby when bigger groups check in. Having said that, check in was fast, efficient and very friendly. You then take an elevator to your room, which is practically an art display. Ever changing pictures are projected on the mirrors in the elevator, very clever! Our room was beautifully appointed, more pillows than you can shake a stick at, heavenly mattress, spacious storage and equipped with every mod-con you could ever come up with. Outside blinds, diverse light settings (all managed from a handy box next to the bed), huge flat screen TV, coffee machine etc etc The bathroom was large with a separate shower and bathtub, bliss! The rooftop restaurant was hit and miss. Had lunch there and aside from the stunning views over Oslo, the ribs I had were the best I've had in a long time. My husband however had a burger which was dry and the French fries burnt. Breakfast is a treat! High quality produce, set out beautifully. The spread left nothing to be desired with the choice spanning hot and cold dishes. In summary, if you like trendy and hip hotels, this is the place for you.
