We stayed a weekend in August, as a family with children age 11 and 14. Check in was friendly but they had some problems with the key cards which meant we had to wait for 1 hour in the lobby, until a member of staff was available to lock us in. This was a server problem that could have happened everywhere. But perhaps someone could have locked us in straight away, or they could have offered us a complimentary drink. We had a 3 bedroom flat in the Village which was both stylish and functional. The Village is next to the hotel, just in front of a beautiful little mountain lake. The flat had everything you need to be comfortable and the decor is in a muted and modern style, still cozy with wood and textile details. It can accommodate up to 8 people but more comfortable for 6 if all are adults. The hotel is surrounded by mountains and several nature trails which start at the resort. We went for a hike and truly enjoyed it. The trails cater for all abilities, from short walks around the hotel to more challenging hikes (like the hike to Hogevarde) for the more experienced. We also enjoyed using the gym and the swimming pool (remember to bring your trainers and swimming costume when you go!) Our daughters even went for a evening swim in the lake! There's also a climbing wall and a large SPA treatment centre. In the winter the ski lifts start at the resort! But the true highlight of the hotel experience this time was the restaurant. The restaurant has two seatings; one at 6pm and another at 9pm, (which was not a problem for us who wanted a late dinner but I realise it can seem a bit inflexible). They offered a tempting a'la carte menu and a very impressive wine list (from affordable to quite expensive). The food and service was outstanding and if this was a review for the restaurant alone we would have given this review a top score, for exceptional quality and value for money. We have dined at this hotel previously, last in April 16, and there has been a significant change for the restaurant. Our waiter was superb; attentive and he also recommended wines that were both reasonably priced and very well suited to our meal. The food itself was beautifully presented with carefully cooked ingredients that made it all into a fantastic dining experience. We all agreed that with a restaurant like this Norefjell Ski & Spa suddenly becomes a reason to visit on its own and would also be a great choice if you have a special occasion to celebrate. Table tip: Ask for a round table by the window if you are 4 people or less. We look forward to our next stay here!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 evenings, great location high up in the mountains 800-1000 m over sea level. Great choice of hiking trails easy or hard distances. Food at the restaurant was very very good, same menu for three days not sure why that was, however the service was slow due to not enough staff which must of been very stress full for the only two waiters to serve so many guests.Really felt sorry for them, management need to look at that before they don't have any staff to run the restaurant at all. Rooms a little dated & tired need some kind of pick me up decor.

We had an excellent weekend with walks in some of Norway's most awe-inspiring landscapes (saw a large herd of reindeer, which was spectacular) to relaxing in the spa (small but adequate). The climbing wall was challenging and had a range of levels from 4 - 7+. The service was excellent and the hotel comfortable. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable.
