Welcome to the heart of Lapland! Our winters are long and cold, with glistening snow and dancing Northern Lights. There's plenty to do here for winter enthusiasts.
Alpine
If you like skiing, check out the Dundret ski facility just five kilometres from the hotel. There are nine slopes here, with varying degrees of difficulty. There are also ten kilometres of prepared cross-country trails as well as a ski-jump. The season at Dundret usually lasts from early November until April/May.
Cross-country skiing
Kommunrundan is one of the most popular ski trails in Gallivare, it's a loop around Gällivare and Malmberget of just over two miles. There are six miles of trails in total in Gällivare, many of which are floodlit.
Ski trips
Dundret is also a fantastic mountain for ski trips. Follow Femmanvägen to get up Dundret, or go via Soldalen, and if you want help getting up, there's always the ski lift. Stunning mountain scenery awaits you at the top, with a view of almost 10% of Sweden including Sarek and Kebnekaise. Fjällstugan is open on weekends and holidays, where you can get something to eat or have a tea or coffee break. Åke på Toppen (Ski on the Peak) and Dalstugan are two other excursions on Dundret.
Dog sledding and snowmobile tours
We can also help you book other activities as required. How about zooming around in the wilderness on a dog sled or a snowmobile, or riding a horse in the deep snow? Or why not try snowshoeing? Contact us for more tips and booking.
