We slept here one night because we have to leave the MS Polarlys because of the Corona crisis. The receptionist was friendly. They could not deliver a normal buffet breakfast because of the virus. We only get a filthy sandwich with jam. No juice. No fruit. Etc. We paid €91 for one room. A shame.

Smack in the middle of Tromsø you have this "golden hotel". You might expect some noise from the streets outside, but it's not all that bad. The rooms are OK, and we very much liked the big and spacious bathroom, which also had a bathtub. Nice airflow in the room. But it also had a TV that didn't work, crap internet connection, and lots of cables laying around, especially under the desk. Also would like to say something about the breakfast. The hard boiled eggs were very overcooked, so much that they had started turning green. We came there late, but during the opening hours, and several things where empty. I can understand hot food and stuff like that, but stull like jam and nutella... well those things should always be available, and only shows poor service. The mayonnaise and caviar tubes were very sticky and nasty to use. Had to wash hands afterwards. You sit very cramped too. Well the tables are not that close, but people have to walk very close to you when they pass. Getting quite annoying after a while. One more thing... they close the service on the minute! We wanted to get some more juice 6 minutes past the closing time. And everything were shut down.

We stayed for 5 nights in January and very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a perfect location, close to the water and within easy walking distance of lots of bars and restaurants. The room was clean and modern with a nice view of the old wooden cathedral and a very efficient heating system (gotta love underfloor heating in a bathroom). The breakfast buffet (included in our rate) was very good with lots of cold options as well as 3 or 4 hot items. Another nice touch is the afternoon make your own waffle station, which we took advantage of every day. Didn't realize that the reception also serves as the bar as we would probably have had a nightcap there.

We stayed here for 7 nights. Except for the high room rate, the hotel is what you can expect from a 3*. The breakfast had a good selection, even after 7 times we were content. It's perfectly located in the center and most tours and chases start just around the corner. There is supposed to be pancakes in the evening. We had not been made aware of that during check-in or prior communication, so we only found that out at the end. Some things which could improve the experience: - there were no shelves in the room. Given the size of the arctic clothes we had, it would have been practical to have some more storage area. - Some of the corridors look very dated and have the styling which evoke the feeling of being on an old ferry-boat. - The blankets/duvets are not so breathable, probably synthetic, so they cause you to sweat. I prefer breathable/feather blankets.

I stayed in the Tromso for 5 days to see the northern lights and the quality hotel made the stay very comfortable. The hotel is right in the city centre with all tours starting points near by. The staff was friendly and welcoming helping us with directions and anything required in the room. The hotel has a good breakfast but was the same over the 5 days. They also have waffles in the evening which is an add on. Overall it was a good experience but I feel it was not really value for money, but you have to keep in mind that Tromso itself is an expensive city.
