I read both positive and not so much reviews before staying at the Comfort Hotel Stavanger, but my own experience was very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and good with anticipating and fulfilling various needs such as recommendations, transport etc. The hotel isn’t new and it showed, but I liked the urban roughness and style of it. It is located smack dab in the center of Stavanger, with great transport and exploration opportunities. The Flybus arrives and departs just on the other side of the street. The room (a single) was very nice, with sparse, but adequate furnishings and a nice bathroom with soap and shampoo. You can ask for a glass or hairdryer at the barception if it is needed. The only thing I missed was a mat to avoid a wet floor after showering, but I used the small towel for that, so that works. The cleanliness level was high and even the cleaning staff were very friendly - my experience other places is that they usually ignore you or hide away if you walk by. I loved how eco-friendly the hotel was - every detail, down to a bag to donate used clothes, was thought of. The bed was nice and comfy. The only thing missing is a small drawer or closet to store clothes in, as I was staying for a few days and did not want to store my clothes in the bag. Also, I could do without the giant tv and maybe have a nice picture/shelf instead. The room milieau was ok, but since I happened upon unseasonably good weather, it got pretty hot due to the huge east-facing windows. The windows didn’t open very widely, I guess because of security reasons, but I believe it could be a problem with heat in the summer. The black curtains helped though. I read about some noise complaints from other reviews and must say that it could be a problem if you’re a light sleeper. However, since the location is so central, a bit of noise is to be expected. If they’re having renovations any time soon, I’d suggest that double or triple glass windows is the first thing to consider. The breakfast (and kitchen crew) was wonderful, with a good European and local selection. The pancakes were definitely the best part. Also, the dining area is really great with panoramic windows on two of the walls, so you get a view as you eat as well. All in all, the hotel is great for a very good price. Everything is in arm’s reach, the service is fantastic and if your priorities are comfort and simplicity coupled with an economic sense, I highly recommend this place.

The hotel is located in the middle of the city so it is a good choice if you are looking for a central location. The staff is friendly and service minded which always is a good thing and helps to make the hotel experience better. The rooms were ok. Sleeping quality in the bed was ok, but the pillows were extremly small. The room is, as the rest of the hotel, pretty old and in need of some renovation. They were painting the walls in the leveator while we were there, so it looks like the renovation budget is pretty low. However, it's an ok hotel and good value for the money.

I was irritated by the time I came to the reception, having had to circle the city center twice to find parking. I couldn’t find the door to the hotel straight away and when I did I had to carry my bag up a flight of stairs. The receptionist was busy with something else and it took several minutes before I was greeted. The key was bent. When I finally got the door open it was immediately clear that I had only clean sheets on the bed. The floor had not been vacuumed and the carpet has definitely seen better days. The bathroom had not been cleaned at all. A container was on the floor in the shower cabin, the towels were on the floor and there was toothpaste on the mirror. I mentioned this as I let for dinner. When I got back I had received fresh towels but the bathroom had not been cleaned. I was too tired to argue. The bed was tiny. The room noisy, but I had ear plugs and slept well. The breakfast was okay but in no way redeemed the experience. It’s very crowded and difficult to move around in. The entire hotel is rundown and shabby. It’s so substandard I would recommend to remove it from the list of places my company uses. The horror of the thought of ending up here with customers or partners!

Hotel really need improvement. Remodeling is due. Need to improve breakfast. hotel is above the Connivence store which is open till 4 AM so lot of teenager come during weekend and party on the road. Very noisy can't sleep. It's very central location so if you want to go for Kjeragboltern or Pulpit rock you can find public transportation easily. Worst stay during my month in Europe.!
