My husband and I visited Oslo in April and had an amazing stay at Amerikalinjen. The manager, Ørjan, made our stay very special and him along with the staff accommodated all of our needs. The hotel has a great breakfast which was included in our stay. And they have a weekendJazz brunch and a Jazz club in the basement. We were able to attend both and they were both top notch. Great performances! I highly recommend staying here, this hotel is a great location with a kind staff, and has a lot to offer.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay at Amerikalinjen. There is an amazing balance of old and new in the hotel. The decor is original and creative, featuring an impressive art collection. The room was clean and inviting, although I would have liked more closet space, and there were not any drawers, just a couple bookcase style open shelves under the window. There are plenty of comfy seating areas in the public spaces to visit with friends. The breakfast buffet is copious and varied. We ate in the restaurant seveal times, and were always satisfied. We enjoyed the jazz club one night. The service is attentive, especially at the front desk and the bar. A truly wonderful hotel.

I LOVED this hotel! It has a great vibe, an excellent breakfast, and a beautiful modern room with a great view. I also loved all the plants around the property and the gym!! It has the best location ever—right next to the train station and downtown Oslo. You really can’t beat this property.

Great hotel, rooms very quiet, we have a lovely stay and the staff were amazing and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfasts were especially good as was all the food in the restaurant. Only negative was we booked a Fortuna Suite and got a corner room so the separate seating area was small and cramped with no balcony, had expected more from a suite.

This is a very stylish hotel. There are lots of nods to its historic past which are tastefully done. My room echoed that era and yet had many mod cons and it was spotless. The shower is fantastic - you can even have both the overhead rain head and mid-level spray on at the same time. The bed is soft but comfortable with soft pillows. There’s a Nespresso machine and a selection of pods etc. The fridge door handle came off when I tried to open it but I am sure that inside there were lots of goodies (at a very high price!). As others have mentioned, the breakfast in the brasserie is quite superb. Likewise, as frequently stated by others, the reception staff are wonderful. As good as you will find anywhere. However, I did encounter a few drawbacks. First, the room was far too hot for me. You can only adjust it + or - 3C from the dictated temp. As that was still too warm I went to reception who overrode the system for me to my room and set it on 19C - I figured this would give me the leeway to adjust it 3C up or down. Nothing seemed to happen and nothing changed. In the end I gave up and opened the window, which meant a lot of noise from the square but it least it was less stuffy in there. I’m not actually convinced the heating / vent was working at all in my room. Second, the lighting. It’s one of these fancy systems and you will either love it or hate it. There are loads of lights and lamps but they are all fixed to your overall controller, lamps are even hard wired into the wall without switches, and so you only get three options (apart from OFF): full which is extremely bright, then sunrise which is slightly less so, and finally sunset which is thankfully less intense. Apart from two tiny spotlights you can’t control any individual lights in case you wanted something more subdued. Third, I’ve praised the brasserie for its breakfast which is superb but if you eat there in the restaurant at lunch or dinner it’s very expensive. Admittedly my sweet parsnip and tiger prawn risotto was the loveliest I’ve ever eaten, but at 35 USD for a fairly small portion it ought to have been. Also be aware that the hotel is cashless. Would I stay here again? Possibly but those flaws did mar my experience. I hate writing anything negative about such a lovely hotel and they may not bother others.
