The location is somewhat OK. The lobby is upgraded, and very OK. The rooms are lacking in standard and drives the impression down. This is a conference hotel. Not a hotel where you have a holiday. Breakfast is very good, in my opinion. Lunch is also very good. Dinner is very average. At least when there are large groups of people in the restaurant. Would I stay at this hotel again? Doubtful. Would I recommend this hotel? No.

A long way to go for this hotel to become enjoyable.

I was attending a conference as a guest speaker. The room was worn down with paint chipping off the doorframe of the bath room. The bed should probably have been replaced years ago and making sleep less than enjoyable. The interior appears to be poorly maintained and looks very dated. It quickly became evident that the hotel was not manage a conference of approx 150 or so people. The dinner on the first night was a taco buffet. The food was bland and boring, and having only a single 6 meter one-sided serving station made getting food take forever. Simple math should have told them that serving 150 people buffet style would take far too long this way. Also, having the bar where you had to buy both soft drinks and alcohol 50 meters from the seating arrangement, was quite silly. Breakfast was good, but the staff failed to replenish the buffet far too often. Also, it is clear that the hotel can´t be hosting this many people at once on a regular basis, as the lines built up quickly around the buffet. The food was good and well prepared though. Quite an uplifting experience keeping the dinner in mind. Lunch was held in the same room as breakfast. Again, too little buffet space for a 150 people. I am fine with drinking water during lunch, but the staff should have informed their guests of the possibility to buy other beverages during lunch. Replenishing was too slow here as well, causing the lines to stop up as people waited for more food. The staff appeared to be overworked something that took a toll on their mood. A part from an extremely helpful conference aid and a sparkling bundle of sunshine in the reception named Marthe or something like that, most did not have the time to deliver a decent level of service. I do understand that it can be stressful trying to please 150 people, but most can be forgiven for a smile or even a friendly shrug. The dinner on the last evening went a bit more smooth. A bbq buffet with a lot of good side dishes and a smarter set up for serving. It appeared that they had taken some pointers from last night, and all in all the second dinner was a good experience. The hotel has an adjecent building holding a small waterpark. I am sure it is a great thing for families with kids, and all, as that part appears to be more up to date and recently renovated. If you happen to drive by Langesund and need a place to sleep, I suggest you drive for another 20 minutes and try out the fancy new hotel in Porsgrunn. If you are planning a conference, I am pretty sure there are much more suited venues in the neighboring cities. It is sad, because the views are spectacular, they have an abundance of parking space and closeness to nature. This could very well have been a favorite, if the interior matched the surroundings. Then again, if you are looking for a vacation as a family with kids, you and your kids like to swim, don't care too much about worn down facilities or sleep quality, or if you like a spacious parking lots and closeness to nature, you might enjoy this spot

This a place that you want to come with your kids. I mean adults too! We definitely hit the waterslide that has a timer so you can see the fastest time of the day etc...If I remember right the hot tubs were not really very hot so that was a downer. The rooms are decent. Pretty average; but hey, you have all the kids activities. The staff is average. The restaurant was, well, Okay; very friendly staff at the restaurant but we ended up traveling to nearby towns for food after the first night. That said, our group are kind of foodies and the meals are not terrible. The breakfast included with the room was "okay" as well. Now just to let travelers know. If you are from the USA this breakfast is an absolute dream, but by Norwegian standards pretty average. When we where there the breakfast engineers were trying to layout the breakfast so that it makes sense. You know, it is nice to find butter near the bread, or plates and cutlery in one area, so we gave them some ideas of how people think when they have to navigate a breakfast pre-coffee. Would I stay here? Yes, I have a seven year old daughter and she would love the pool and water slides etc..

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Very good parking just a few meters from the main entrance. Quiet and few guests at arrival. Check-in went smooth and I was informed that the restaurant was closed, but they could fix a pizza or something if I wanted. Elevator to my seaside room at fourth floor was clearly marked by the years. Same with the corridor to the rooms. The doors to the rooms had holes and markings from changing lock-systems. Anyway, the room had magnificent ocean view. It was fairly large, clean but felt initially a bit outdated. Same with the quite spacious bathroom - a taste of the eighties. I hate soap from dispensers in hotels. There are signs everywhere about saving the planet. Not quite sure if this is a temporary motivation to save costs for the hotel? The toiletpaper was so thin it was impossible to roll out in one piece. The air was not really fresh and there were no aircondition. This was easily solved by opening the window and suck the fresh sea-breeze! What I really liked was the large 4k TV with a good selection of channels. Bed was superb! I had a very (very) good nights sleep! Breskfast pretty standard. Nice selection of ecological alternatives. The eggs was nice, but they should also offer scrambled eggs from ecological eggs, not eggpowder. The room is somewhat pricy, but given all the pool-facilities it includes, it is not bad at all - even breakfast and parking. In general, a nice stay and I will happily return. Maybe I will concider a fourth star then!

We spent 2 nights here and our kids (1, 3, 5 yo) had a LOT of fun. The service was very friendly and they clearly made an effort to give kids a great experience. My boys loved the nightly magic show, the water park, indoor playground and bouncey castle. I’m giving the hotel a 4 instead of a 5 because I was very disappointed that the swim park was not better maintained and the parts of the hotel that haven’t been renovated yet (Im assuming they just haven’t gotten to the entire hotel but are planning too) are a little shabby. The parts that have been renovated look great. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I think this is a great place for families.
