I stayed at this hotel two days ago for a conference. I was upgraded from a single room to a very comfortable double room that had two twin beds that I pushed together. The room was large and very clean with a nice bathroom. The beds were super comfortable with many pillows and lovely, warm duvets for the bed. There is a large TV that had both Norwegian and English-speaking channels to watch. My room overlooked downtown so I had a nice view from the window and it was very quiet so I slept well. Two things I noticed in the bathroom were that the hotel does not give complimentary shampoo, conditioner, or moisturizer like most of the hotels I have stayed at and there were no wash cloths if you wanted to wash your face.
The hotel is directly in the centre of downtown Oslo so it is close to the Opera House, lots of shopping and dining, and within easy walking distance of sights to see. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful for the most part. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a lot of very fresh fruit, bread, meats, fish, cheese, and an omelette station with a chef making fresh omelettes. There was milk, juices, and water for drinks. Here is why I didn't give it five stars for the rating:
The room service menu is very limited. Room service is from Fridays, the chain restaurant which would lead me to believe that there would be a number of items to eat for different palates. However the menu has three beef burgers and three chicken dishes. There were smoothies I think but if you wanted a salad or soup (or if you didn't eat meat), you were out of luck. There were also pizzas to order which I did both nights (I was in the city alone and didn't want to go out to eat dinner alone at a restaurant). You order the pizza by calling the front desk and go down to pick it up when it was ready. I ordered the garden pizza which was a thin crust pizza with veggies on top. It was very good and a medium size had 8 slices.
Another reason for the lower rating was that I fell down the stairs when I was at the Opera House and badly injured my knee. I called the front desk to ask where I could get an ice bag since I injured myself and my knee was very swollen and the front desk person said they'd get back to me and they never did. i ended up finding a maid and asked for a plastic bag to get some ice. Also, my final morning, I needed to catch a very early flight and had to be at the airport by 5 am. I asked for a wake-up call and never received one. Luckily I sent my Ipad's alarm but I would have missed my flight.
I would definitely stay there again but with those issues, I couldn't give it a five star rating.
