Clarion Hotel® Grand Östersund

Very comfortable hotel centrally situated in Ostersund. Close to shops, restaurants and bars and of course the wonderful frozen lake. (Hire a sled and do a "Pingu" the best fun! Skate hire also available). A warm welcome was received upon our arrival. Our room was spotless with the most comfortable beds even had giant fluffy pillows! Excellent shower with heated floor in bathroom too. And a decent hairdryer was a nice surprise too. The breakfast was well presented, varied and catered for all tastes. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were available to make at any time in the lounge area. (Although I did miss the early morning tea in bed as no tea or coffee making facilities in the room). The reception area had comfortable sofas and chairs in which to relax as did the bar area. All staff were very friendly and happy to help with any requests. The pool and sauna were wonderful. Especially so, as I had them both to myself! I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you are staying in the lovely town of Ostersund. And would not hesitate to rebook here in the future. Footnote : Although hotel was situated in the centre, it was quiet so sleep was not hindered.

Ostersund is a very pretty and friendly place in a holesome down to earth way. It is not a disneyland beautiful destination, but that tends to mean that you have real people holidaying and enjoying their own country not the flocks of tourists queuing to take selfies.

A large, beautiful room with all necessities in place. It's nice that the hotel trusts me by providing plenty of towels instead of giving me the bare minimum "to save the environment". Nice to be able to pre-book free indoor parking.

Clarion Grand Östersund is located in the city centre of Östersund and about a 15-minute drive from the airport, OSD. The hotel gives easy access to town as it is moments away from shopping, restaurants, and bars and no more than a 10-minute drive to the closest skiing centre. The hotel provides charged for indoor parking at the back of the hotel, which can be useful as it often gets below -30 degrees in the winter. There is a nice restaurant and bar in the hotel, with local food. There is a small relaxation area with a small pool, sauna and a small gym. They do provide access to a gym on town if you are serious about training. The rooms are spacious with good storage and good-sized bathrooms. A good hotel for exploring town and the surrounding areas or if you are happy with smaller downhill skiing.

The front desk personnel were fantastic. They were very cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was the best that I have ever had in any of my travels. Lots of great food. We also enjoyed a great dinner in the dining room. Our room was upgraded to a suite and had a nice view. Very quiet hotel.
