Clarion Collection® Hotel With

The Clarion Collection Hotel With was above average, but not particularly special. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but I also can't rave about it. The room was nice and of ample size. The bed was comfortable and we had a nice view of the harbor. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge area off the dining room and watching the people walking by outside, and enjoying the harbor and mountain views, and played chess and drank coffee while it was snowing and the wind was blowing. The halls were brightly lit, but not particularly nice or inviting, but then you don't have to spend much time in the halls except to go to your room and back to the elevator. It is very convenient that the price of the room includes breakfast, cake and coffee in the late afternoon, and dinner. I really appreciated not having to find a restaurant for dinner most of which are quite pricey. That being said, the food was nothing to get excited about. It was pretty basic and rather mediocre but it was fine overall. The Hotel With had some issue with its kitchen so it wasn't serving meals. Instead you went next door to the sister Hotel Aurora for meals. Overall, it was all fine and the staff was very nice. I would stay again for the location, the friendly staff, and the convenience.

Hotel is a bit tired in places but the view more than made up for it. Definitely go for a view over the harbour. Food was served in the sister hotel across the road during our stay which wasn’t an issue apart from it getting a bit busy. All food was good. Only had dinner once as our tours started at 6pm which was the same time as dinner. Shame hotel couldn’t start slightly earlier as most tours go out at 6pm. Also be aware towels are only changed every other day and room cleaned every 4 days. Tea and coffee on tap is a bonus. Location is fantastic, close to town and airport bus. Might as well take a taxi though as this was only £1-£2 more than the bus and on our return journey the bus never turned up.

I’ll start with my concerns. We booked what I gather they think is an “inexpensive” room (which was still expensive) - which I did not realize meant no hair conditioner and no skin lotion. I need both! Staff just looked at me miffed when I asked for some. I’d read rooms had those items. Really off putting - to save how much NOK? Anyway … The room was also a little warn looking - chipped paint. But with that said…I still give it good marks overall. The important stuff was there …. Slept great - love Scandinavian bedding. Shower was good and they had warm tiles! Location was perfect for our planned activities - easy access to all sites ;and airport bus. Food wise…Really good coffee in lobby (24 hours a day) - breakfast was very nice, and chocolate “cake” for tea hour very yummy. We were never there for free dinner. We also used the dry sauna! Nice after a long day in frigid temps!!! Overall good!

Great setting on the harbour front. Really glad we up graded to a room with a view. We just watched the harbour life between our various tours. The afternoon coffee and cake plus light supper buffet were winners. Hotel was no more expensive than others but it was great to have quick meal before going out to chase the lights At present all meals are in sister Aurora hotel immediately next door. It did make the restaurant crowded but not a problem I’d choose other Clarion hotels because of their food offerings.

We had a double room and we loved it. Lots of space and a large bathroom. Breakfast was the usual and dinner was a set meal and enjoyable except for the raw vegetables. This hotel would have been perfect if there were tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a bar fridge.
