Clarion Collection® Hotel Savoy

Booked this for one night because its just beside our office. I usually stay at another business hotel chain in the city, so this was my first time. I believed the name meant that it was a bit better than standard, but how wrong I was. First room I got on floor 2....and by the way, the corridors smelled like you were in a hotel in an India restaurant. Not pleasant to have in a hotel, and in this room none of the lighting worked, so changed and was upgraded to a superior room. Unfortunatly got to the atrium, since they had no rooms facing the streets. I got a room on the third floor (at late evening discovered that the bed lightings did not work!). This room felt like was in a brothel. Colors and lighting was aweful, and its very worn down and need a renovation. Really worn down carpets, furniture, walls, etc.. See pics. I felt actually dirty when I was in the room. Did not want to take of my shoes even. No slippers or robe. No safe, nothing in the closet (see pic). Lighting was so aweful and bright, that you could not have them on. Breakfast was ok, but not a very good selction. This hotel was really aweful and I will never stay here again. I have travelled all over the world, stayed at so many hotels, so I know a bit what I am talking about, and I would not write like this if it was not really bad. Service was good, and they tried, but if the product is not good, its difficult to offer something or defend the quality of the product. NOT worth the money! There are more business chains in the city at the same price (lower budget) that are much better.

This hotel was a mixed bag. Downstairs is quite nice and gives you a good impression of the hotel. However, this changes fairly dramatically when you enter your room. Our room was so small you could only really get out of bed one side due to a sloping wall. The beds were very worn and had no support. The radiator in our room (right next to the bed) could not be turned off so the room was ridiculously hot meaning we had to keep our bedroom window open. This wasn't ideal as it was noisy at night. Our room was something like 507. The bathroom was also extremely small, I have showered in caravan bathrooms with more space. Your knees touched the sink whilst sitting on the loo and I am not particularly tall! Honestly, it was like being in a cupboard. The flipside to this is that the breakfast food was very nice, good selection and freshly cooked. Dinner was pretty good, we hadn't realised it was included in the price but odd as they didn't offer a vegetarian option as well as a meat option. The restaurant for breakfast was nice but the room upstairs for dinner was pretty run down and not very clean. It was unclear whether we could sit there if we weren't eating (sitting in your bedroom in the evening was not really an option due to size).

Booked in as part of a package this evening. The tour operator didn’t let us know we had an evening meal at the hotel included. Checked in at 3.30pm came down to double check our evening meal was definitely included and what the menu was at about 4pm. The menu was set (photo included - not the most extensive of choices!) and I explained to the receptionist that I couldn’t eat fish (as some types make me extremely poorly.) Bearing in mind dinner wouldn’t be served at the earliest 6.30pm, the response was a flat no to finding an alternative. Rude, cold and exceptionally unhelpful. If it takes them hours to prepare and make the most basic of set meals - I cannot say I’m looking forward to breakfast. Really pathetic! Our room is also extremely noisy as the trams go past - I’d steer clear of this hotel in future!

Well located, well run. Comfortable, spacious room, bathroom is the size of an NYC apartment! Room charge includes breakfast, afternoon tea (“filka” in Norwegian), and dinner. All three were excellent. ADVICE: Hotel IS NOT handicapped accessible. —There are steps to get to the elevator. —There are two steps to climb from the room to the bathroom. —There are no grab bars in the bathtub and you will have to climb over the edge of the bathtub to shower or bathe. If you are sensitive to noise ask for a room that DOES NOT overlook the side street with the tram tracks. I grew to rather like the hiss and rattle,

Very friendly staff, delicious food; especially the breakfast, comfortable beds, powerful shower, super location! Unfortunately, the rooms let this hotel down. They appear unclean as the carpet and furnishings are so outdated. There was an issue with a smell of sewage in bathroom 202 and the door in 215 would not lock when leaving the room. This was reported and unfortunately not resolved.
